Decide, Act, Record, Verify: Following One Decision Through HashNet

It is one thing to say a company combines AI, blockchain and automation. It is another to show how they fit together.

HashNet founder Ian Issa often answers that question by tracing a single loop, from the first piece of data to a payment a customer can check. Here is that loop, step by step. As Issa points out, there are no physical robots anywhere in it.

    Step 1: The data

The loop starts with data. HashNet tracks conditions across the six coins it mines, in four algorithm groups, 24 hours a day.

The machines report too. Each sends temperature, power draw, fan speed, error rates and performance every few seconds.

    Step 2: Decide

HashNet’s AI layer scores every coin within each algorithm group, continuously.

Suppose conditions shift and a different SHA-256 coin becomes the better use of the SHA-256 hardware. The AI identifies the change and decides the hardware should move.

The decision stays inside the algorithm group. SHA-256 hardware can only mine SHA-256 coins, so that is the only comparison that counts.

    Step 3: Act

The automation layer — HashNet’s Alpha Engine — acts on the decision immediately. It re-points the relevant hardware within its algorithm in roughly 12 milliseconds (company-reported), with no human stepping in and no downtime.

This is what Issa means by the “robotic” part of the system: “autonomous, continuous, self-executing software.”

    Step 4: Record

The output converts to Bitcoin, and that Bitcoin moves on-chain: from the mining pools through to customers’ own wallets.

This is where blockchain does its job as the system’s memory. Payouts settle on public addresses — a record no one can quietly rewrite.

HashNet is precise about what this step covers. The money movement is on-chain; the internal switching decision from Step 2 is not.

    Step 5: Verify

Every eight hours, Bitcoin is delivered to customer wallets. This is the step a customer can check for themselves.

All it takes is a wallet address and a public block explorer. No permission is needed, and no one’s word has to be taken for it. It is the proof at the end of the loop.

    Where the people are

The loop runs without anyone pressing a button, but people shape it. HashNet’s engineers define the limits the Alpha Engine works within, monitor it through alerts and reviews, and can step in at any time.

    Why the loop matters

Each layer on its own has a gap. AI decides but struggles to prove. Blockchain proves but does not decide. Automation acts but needs intelligence to act well.

Joined into a loop, they cover each other. In Issa’s words: “Decide, act, record, verify. The value is in the loop running continuously and ending in something anyone can check.”
